How errors, disputed claims and important updates are assessed and corrected.
Substantive factual errors are corrected promptly once verified. The correction should address the claim, not merely remove inconvenient context.
Minor spelling, formatting and accessibility fixes may be made without a public correction note; material changes should be reflected in the review date or edition record.
A disagreement is assessed against the quality, relevance and date of the supporting evidence. Lived experience can reveal omissions or harmful framing even when it cannot establish a population-wide claim.
New legislation, regulator notices, clinical guidance and high-quality research are prioritised according to potential harm and reach.
A useful correction report identifies the page, exact wording, reason for concern and the strongest available source. Personal health details should not be sent unnecessarily.
